A B O U T M E
Hi, I’m a freelance artist and illustrator (and sometimes writer) from Malaysia, working across both digital and traditional mediums. Clawmakase started when I needed press-on nails for an event and couldn’t find any designs I liked. So, I made my own—and then another, and another—until I had a collection I could reuse whenever I wanted. After sharing them online, people began asking if I sold them, and that’s how Clawmakase was born.
Clawmakase blends 'Claw' with the Japanese word 'Omakase,' meaning 'Leave the details up to me.' This concept resonates with me because it gives me the creative freedom to bring my artistic visions to life. At my core, I’m an artist, and each design reflects that. Whether I’m working on original concepts or classic styles, I craft every set with care and attention to detail.
Right now, it’s just me—creating new designs, filming and editing for social media, managing customer service, painting nails, and packing them to ship. It’s a lot, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Clawmakase came to life during a tough time, both personally and professionally. I was struggling with where things were headed, especially with the future of design (with AI on the rise—if you're a fellow creative, you probably know the feeling). But starting this business gave me something to look forward to—a reason to wake up and dive into creating again.
If you’ve read this far, thank you for getting to know a bit about me and Clawmakase. I put a lot of heart into every design, and I hope that shows in the work I share with you.
May your light always prevail,
Cheyna
